One thing Roger does a lot of is using practicals to light a scene. We talk about what practicals are, why and when to use them and how to make sure they will work well in the scene.

I will say one thing, just between us, I would never dare go out and buy a lamp for our house on my own. When we were first married, I almost did but when I came home and I told him about the light and got grilled over the height, the color of the lamp shade and how that lamp color would work in the room, I had the startling realization that I would never be able to buy a lamp on my own again! The idea of making the wrong choice and causing him to suffer was just too great a risk!
