The Man Who Wasn’t There – Bank Set
Looking at Lighting
This “Looking at Lighting Page” examines a set from “The Man Who Wasn’t There” which opened in theaters in 2001.
The bank was a location in Downtown LA and the only problem for us was the windows to the street. Thankfully we were able to place lights in the parking lane, which gave us enough depth to cover our diffused windows.
The two shot in silhouette was always going to be that but it could have been a problem if we had not been able to position our lights that bit away from the window.
We used Zenons and mirrors to create some sharp patterns of sunlight, which is something I did quite often throughout the film. Here the effect is only apparent on a couple of wide shots.
