From Set photographer to DP ? (switching roles)

hello there, i could use all of your guyss input here, thing is that ive been getting more and more jobs as a set photographer, but since im also looking to do more gigs as cinematographer im wondering if me taking the still gigs will give me an image of being “the stills guy”, i know this used to be the case more so than now, and that now there isnt such a clear path to becoming a dp rising up the ranks like it was 15 years ago, in synthesis my question is, “will me taking jobs as a stil photographer hinder my prospects as a cinematographer a bit later on?” or is this not a question i should concernt myself with in this current landscape.
