Script breakdown question — am I doing it right?

Hello everyone,

I’m currently breaking down 10 episodes, and there’s a lot to keep track of. I’m wondering if there is a better way to break things down.

At the moment I’m going through all the scripts manually, and I’m trying to keep track of the locations and times of day / lighting conditions required – also if there are any specific VFX or SFX requirements that I need to assist.

 

While doing this manually does help me, I do find it quite slow and I only have 8 weeks of prep – which really means 2 weeks of script time and planning before construction begins…

 

Would it be better to ask the 1st AD to spit out strips for all the locations relating to time of day etc…?

 

Any advice or any techniques folks have for breaking things down are very welcome.
