      Hello Mr.Deakins,

One of my friends told me he really likes your cinematography in The Assassination of Jesse James. He said he liked the style of the image very much, especially those that were shot in the wheat field, which in his words “has a surreal feeling”. And he thinks the bokeh of lens chosen to shoot the movie is spectacular.

So we were actually wondering: What lenses were used in the making of the film? Did you do any modifications to the lenses? If so, what kind of modifications?

Thanks a lot for answering! This forum is absolutely fantastic.

      Wish you a peaceful day!

There’s a few times this has been brought up and you can search for it in the forums.

        It’s now called “The Deakinizer” – https://theasc.com/blog/shot-craft/lens-test-deakinizers

Ah! Thanks a lot. Fantastic webpage. I did heard about Mr.Deakins customizing his own set of lenses, but I thought they were normal non-stylish lenses and I never knew they were used in that film. Anyways, this looks really interesting.
