I am reading the 5 C’s of Cinematography and the book references the 1946 film Lady In The Lake (LITL) because the entire movie uses a subjective camera angle from the point of view of the eyes of the main character. The protagonist’s face only appears visible in reflections.

Here’s a few minutes of LITL:

As soon as I saw this I wondered what it would have felt like to watch all of 1917 from this POV. I also wondered if that option was ever discussed at some point.

I tried asking AI for a list of 100% POV movies out of morbid curiosity. It came up with a puny list of films made after 2013 and failed to mention LITL. However, it did claim that “1917 is commonly mistaken as a POV film.”

It’s nice to see that reading still uncovers some gems.
