I think the balance between technical parameters and artistic vision is crucial in filmmaking. While “exposing to the right” and maximizing dynamic range are important for capturing detail, the mood and story should ultimately guide our choices. If a darker exposure fits the narrative and evokes the desired emotions, then it’s absolutely valid.
