      Dear Roger and forum,

I have a couple of questions regarding ringlights in general.

I was recently building some ringlights myself. For every ringlight I chose a 5″ spacing between the individual bulbs.

One ringlight with 8 bulbs, one with 12 and one with 18 bulbs.

To keep everything more low profile I chose e14 instead of e27. So the max wattage I can use is 60watt per bulb.

As I was testing the ringlights I noticed some differences and I suddenly thought about the scene from skyfall where bond visits M’s apartment. You said you chose a 2′ ringlight (2 feet is referring to the diameter I assume) and you wrote it held 7-8 bulbs but when I do the math (wich I’m not particularly good at) then it results in a greater distance between the individual bulbs, which would result in noticeable individual shadows on Bonds chin, but the shadow rolloff is so incredibly smooth. So was there something that I missed or a tip that you could give me how you can bring together the shadows even more?

Best regards from Germany and a wonderful week to everyone!

      Julius

I think the light had a wrap of silver foil around it to lessen the light hitting high on the walls. This would also have integrated the individual sources, the 7 or 8 bulbs.
