I have a few questions regarding your approach to planning lighting. On your website, I’ve discover that the lighting diagrams you share are incredibly detailed, specifying exact instruments and their placements.

Do you always create such specific plans for lighting, or do you sometimes communicate the desired quality and mood to your gaffer and let them choose the specific instruments?

For smaller sets that don’t require pre-lighting, do you typically devise the lighting setup on the day after watching the rehearsal?
