Hello Mr. Deakins,
I have a short music film shooting in a few weeks in beautiful desert landscapes in Bolivia. The one that excites me the most is the Uyuni salt flat. While the landscapes are beautiful, the light is very hard, we are a very small crew and our resources are somewhat limited. Most of the people around here, including myself, are brown-skinned and I’m still trying to figure out how to bring out the beauty of this tone which is very variable in this region. The story is quite bleak at first but then the characters begin to find themselves spiritually and become more confident. What resources do you suggest to control the light, would unbleached fabrics help instead of traditional diffusion or bounce? How would you approach such a project? I would be very grateful for your guidance. Attached are some pictures of the site
