Film studies student at Freie Universität Berlin. I wrote my term paper last semester on 1917, arguing that camera movement takes over the work of the cut, with the mission briefing scene as the main case: an insert, a reverse angle and nine separate compositions, none of them edited.
No question attached. It just seemed odd to spend a semester with the film and never mention it to anyone who made it. Thank you for the film, and for keeping this forum open. Happy to send the paper if anyone wants it.
