      No country dark
      Sir Deakins,

For this shot and others in dark environments would you still use 100/200T or is this an instance of using 500T?  Also would you use a light meter to get a specific ratio 3:1 or more drastic on this shot and did you over expose it any amount of stops?  I know you love using practicals as I really do too so wondering is there another bounce or light keying and what is creating the eye light.

P.S I won a signed copy of Shawshank DVD when I took the ASC Masterclass still one of my favorite things..

I’m pretty sure I shot that scene on 500T stock. I only use a meter to check the level of light at a point in the frame where I want a mid exposure. Otherwise I light by eye. I have no idea what teh contrast ratio read on the meter, for instance.

The ‘eyelight’ was coming from a soft cove of bounce light I was using to wrap Javier’s face. The practical itself was not at the right angle to reach around his face.
