As a feature film DP, what do you think about the wave of remastering films in HDR and releasing on blue ray?

Is this done without the original director and dp? Does this change how the film was originally intended to be viewed, and how the cinematography feels? Or do you think this actually improves the film?

I don’t have specific films I am asking about since it is being done to many, but I am curious of your thoughts on this overall. Anyone is welcome to mention specific films!

I searched in the archives here and found some related answers! Apologies for the repeated question. The answer seems to be that it is a good thing for the most part, but it depends. Haha!

I am usually informed when a film is going to be remastered. Is it a good thing? Most definitely. Some of the original scans are very poor quality, besides which, there is nowadays a greater technical ability to match the image to the original intent.
