Revolutionary Road birthday cake scene lighting

Hello, I’m wondering how you approached lighting this scene or more specifically this shot from Revolutionary Road:

From my own analysis it looks like a large source coming from camera left to give the room some ambient levels to see into the shadows (especially since this was shot on film) and you either had enough light levels to just use the candles on the cake as the key light source or have a little tungsten source hidden behind the birthday cake?
