When to bring in light for Close-Ups – True Grit

Hi Roger,

I was wondering how you make a distinction between bringing in a light specifically for a closer shot versus allowing the lights already set up do the work. How much do you think about catch lights?

Would be particularly interested in the close ups in True Grit. I found the innocent/naive determination in Steinfeld’s close-ups to be incredibly moving and tragic.
