Hi Roger and James,

Have you any favourite books you've read this year that you'd reccomend?

Thanks

I think the book 'The Passenger' was the most interesting fiction I read this year, though it hardly reads as fiction. By Ulrich Boschwitz, it was written in Germany in 1938. Borschwitz escaped the Nazi regime and spent the early years of the war in Australia. He died when, on his return to Europe before the end of the war, his ship was sunk by a U-Boat.

Brilliant, thank you, I'll add it to the list.

I've been really enjoying Richard Flanagan's novels since you mentioned his work on the site.

If you want a book about film and creating stories for film (or anything else come to that!) I would recommend 'You're gonna need a bigger story' by Houston Howard.

Sounds interesting. Will wait for the price to drop!

You'll enjoy it - but it is an intensive read! It is all about creating a viable and interesting story world across several media, i.e. a book, a film, spin-offs, comics, radio plays, anything and everything. It is also a principle that works outside of storytelling, so it works for business in general.

Getting better! Certainly worth obtaining a copy then. Thankyou for
recommending it.
