Thanks for sharing sir. I've been meaning to read Moby Dick for years now. I shall order it! Together with Crucible, just read the prologue - I could not stop reading.

Have you read anything by Michel Houellebecq? He does have a bleak view of humanity, much like yourself.

Michel Houellebecq was born Michel Thomas, which is a lot easier to say but may not sound so 'exotic'. Then, I suppose Eric Blair changed his name as well - to George Orwell. I have not read Houellebecq's writing as I don't subscribe to his views.
