Thank you, Roger and James, for this lovely gift. You are sharing decades worth of life experience that is truly valuable as a lesson in cinema as well as in how to go about it. Your camaraderie, light-hearted humor, and affection for the craft and for each other is the secret to your endurance. Most people burn out with just one or two movies. You continue to grow exponentially, and each new film that you work on pushes the envelope even further; and if I may say so, you are changing the perception of what is possible within the medium as a whole. The language of cinema is finding new flavors and destinations in your able hands.
P.S. - I have created and attached a profile image for your podcast that I believe captures this energy the two of you bring together in your partnership and your work.
Love the image!!
This podcast was very pertinent to me. It's very easy to feel like all the vagaries, issues and challenges are unique to one's own experience, which can be a bit daunting and all consuming.
However, after listening to this podcast, and thinking that my personal experiences are unique to people on my level, I now understand that even those who eventually reached the top had likewise to start somewhere and underwent their own challenges in the journey.
A big THANKS to Team Deakins for taking the time to do this, speaking from the heart and sharing their beginnings.
I can't tell you how much i appreciate what you are doing.
Cheers from Preston, UK. Yes, it's grim up north.
Thanks for the opportunity Roger and James! My question is about how to undertake in the world of cinema being from Latin America. I am studying Film and as many of us want to reach Hollywood, I am aware of the challenge it represents but I would like to hear some experience or story from colleagues you have met who come from Latin America and reached the US industry.
Greetings, the podcast is excellent!
