Sir Donald McCullin exhibition London (1 reply)
Some of you may be interested to know that a Donald McCullin exhibition has started at the Tate gallery London.
Aged 83 and still very much active travelling the world as a photo journalist, he refuses to be called a ‘war’ correspondent although he “cut his teeth” during the Vietnam and Cambodia’s wars recording the events that happened there for the Times and various magazines. He admits that he is a “people’s” photographer but found himself getting involved in war zones as that’s where to find people suffering the most. He has used nearly every type of camera on the market including 35, 120, 5x4 but now he has converted to digital which he confesses is a godsend and only wished he had them in the 1960’s when he had to wait up to a month before he could see the results. Although, now at the age of 83 he admits when he is on a “mission” he does not feel his age and runs about like a spring lamb. He does not look his age at all so there is a lesson for all of us, stay focused and enjoy life.
There are dozens of books about him and there are millions of photos to look at. He was a Kodak Tri X fan. Well worth looking up imo.
Forgot this one. Everyone should read this.
