gallery - still shots (5 replies and 5 comments)
Dear Mr. Deakins - forum members,
I am a life long fan of your work and a studio exec at WB Pictures in Burbank. Kudos on your amazing work in our upcoming film "The Goldfinch". Brilliantly shot! I am a new forum member so I apologize if this question has been posted and answered in the past.
I would like to know if you show your still work and if you have any shows/exhibitions scheduled? Are there galleries that represent you for still photography sales?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
No to all of those. The images I take are really just personal sketches. I might do something with them sometimes but .... we'll see.
The trouble is, you will be critical of your own photos because you have seen them too many times but given ‘fresh eyes’ they could appeal to others. A different venue and a glass of wine can make all the difference.
Dear Mr. Deakins
I am happily viewing your personal photos in the current edition of the Hollywood Reporter. Going back to my opening comments on this blog - your work is amazing. Love the New Mexico shot! Gallery show....
I was lucky enough to see 1917 and your Q&A at the Academy screening before Christmas but had to leave early or I would have introduced myself. Kudos on the awards so far and your AA nom. Sending you good luck for Sunday. My boss here at WB screened the film and of course I loved it, and your work, just as much the 2nd time as the 1st. I plan to see the film again this weekend. Masterpiece.
Break a leg...
Maybe more than one glass might work.
I was thinking of the invited guests!
Mr Deakins - Many thanks for your prompt reply. I completely understand. These photos are personal to you. As as casual shooter myself I can relate. That said, I would personally love to have one of your works on my wall and I assume many other collectors would as well. I would think that gallery owners and museum curators are after you all the time.
Should you ever have that glass of wine and look at your work with a fresh eye yourself, please let me know. Thank you for all your amazing work and contributions to the cinema. I will continue to follow you with great admiration.
Got it. Well perhaps someday...
Why don’t you download a couple of your favourite photos, not to be analysed and criticised but enjoyed by other members.
mine are all from the old days -shot on film and not digital. don't think the iphone will do them justice. ill try... thanks.
Shot on film, that even better! Scan a few and see how it turns out.
