Hello everyone.

Please kindly help me, i need your feedback. I shot a series of photos on my phone and want to submit them to the photo competition. Are they worth it? I really doubt that.

I really like number 5-11-12, I would modify them a little in order to enhance some details, but I think you should give it a try.

They won't get much better, sadly but I will try. All of them are shot with heavy crop to get FOV of 50mm lens.

Thanks for your feedback!

Photo 9 is rather good imo. I will enter this one. The others are good but lack character, do you have any with people or wildlife etc. Walk around the streets, you will find lots to photograph. It all depends on the competition guide lines.

No, I don't have any. I'm really bad at photographing people, still learning the basics. So I try to take good photos without any creatures, just things-in-themselves.

Creatures? Photographing people is easier than scenery.

Not with my level of social anxiety 🙂 I'm not looking for easy way anyway.

By "creatures" I meant both people and animals.

Can I ask where do you live, just curious. I can then pin you on my world map.

These photos were shot in Murino, Leningradskaya Oblast, Russia. I live in St.Petersburg, Russia

Thankyou Nikita, I was in St Petersburg 2 years ago.
What a stunning city, photographers paradise. You are lucky to live there.

You might take a look at the work of Todd Hido. Hardly a person in sight but interesting photographs that have a definite 'personality', which I am always looking for in a photographer.

Thanks a lot, Roger, very interesting photographs! I'm only learning how to observe, so I haven't developed any kind of style or artistic voice yet but I will get better. I also shoot b/w only for more than a month now to learn how to work with light and contrast.

Todd Hido. Very interesting photography, heavily reliant on computer manipulation but fascinating photos. Niche market imo.

what kind of computer manipulation you are talking about? Color grading? There is nothing to Photoshop, at least in his photos that I have seen.

He is very good at lighting and makes good use of lamps placed strategically hidden from view but many of his photos have been manipulated by computer software perhaps to enhance the effect, obviously there’s nothing wrong with that but does sometimes look artificial in my eyes. I do agree that he puts in a lot of work to achieve that effect but doesn’t appeal to me. His other work is fabulous imo.
