Roger,

I know you like to run marathons and climb mountains so I wondered if you were the author of these books. A signed copy is selling for £249.00.  They are about travelling around the world and studying scenery whilst he (author) runs, swims and climbs his way around.

Unless his writer pseudonym is Deakin instead of Deakins, probably not. 🙂

No! I did read one of his books a while ago.

Thankyou Roger. I am really surprised that you have not put pen to paper. It shouldn’t interfere with your regular work and would be welcomed by your fans and supporters.
“ A look at the life of a DP” Now that does sound exciting.

I have wondered about writing something but it would probably end my career!

I was thinking of a reference book rather than an autobiography. You have already written 75% of the book with your forum. I would collate all the questions and answers relating to your films into a book, there could be a section that would be about you and how you started in the industry and a brief run down on the ‘tools’ you use but no “head banging “ stuff about past experiences as your career is still on going. I do see it as a reference manual for future film makers not just for Wannabe DP’s but also Directors/Producers and even production crew. The book will be for all not just for the few. I envisage a million copies in English within 2 years and a further million in multi languages. At $75.00 a copy
that would add up to a nice pension for when you do finally hang up your meter. Publishers will bear the costs of set up fees (or a ghost writer) so you will not be out of pocket.
Hard cover with silk paper and impressive photos will make the book desirable and a must have impulse purchase. No one has done this before and will certainly contribute to your knighthood! Makes sense to me.

All very well and good but I don't propose to retire ..... ever!

And that's a very good news for all of us!

Ditto that. Some people do not have that option but sitting back and just admiring the world can be just as rewarding. Retiring can be another beginning for some.
