Hey Roger,

I was wondering, did you personally get to oversee the encode transfer for the 4K/HDR version of the home release for BR2049? If so, do you approve of that film being experienced in that format, or the regular BD with rec.709?

Thanks!

I did oversee both versions so they should be OK. Neither is the best way to view a film made for a big screen.

Thank you for the reply, Mr. Deakins.

I agree that nothing compares to actually experiencing a film in a real theatre. I was fortunate to watch the film in the Dolby Cinema format, and I absolutely loved it.

But for home releases, I try to do my best in terms of at least buying physical copies, and financially supporting the artists that inspire me as much as I can. While I know that blu-ray may not be optimal in terms of viewing these films the way most DOPs prefer, I want to get the version that is at least AS CLOSE to the theatrical version as possible.

Thanks again for the reply.
