Subjective vs Objective Camera Work -- how to change POV (1 reply and 1 comment)
Cuaron talked about only tracking left and right, and never pushing toward a subject, in order to create a subjective feel in "Roma". Other directors will plan an over-the-shoulder when their main actor goes into a room, to increase the feeling that we're in their perspective.
What are your recommendations for creating subjective or objective camera work? What shots do you rely on to make a scene feel like it's from the perspective of one character?
Well, it doesn't have to an over the shoulder to be in a character's perspective. I could give you a list of shots that can work but context is everything.
I totally understand. Thanks for your insight. Love the podcast and especially your films!
