Prisoners - Wide to closeups Kitchen scene (4 replies and 3 comments)
I don't remember doing much. I might have added a small bounce inside the room to 'wrap' the window light around the face as that is what I often do. I don't have a record of things that I do on the set from shot to shot, only what I design as a pre rig, so I can't be sure.
Do you remember what lamps you used outside the windows?
Hello Roger, If I may also ask, I would love to understand where exactly the 12X12 bounce is in this shot? Above the window and facing down when the HMI is low on the floor?
Thank you.
The bounce is angled at around 45º to the window, some 10' from the wall and just above the camera's line of sight. The HMI is below the window and therefore hitting the bounce at 90º.
How many HMI and power was the lamps?
Probably two or three 4K Fresnel HMI lamps but I might be wrong. I use these lights when there is limited space.
Very interesting, thanks so much for the information Roger.
Hello Roger,
I found a previous post about this scene where you said you had two lamps outside that are below each window and bouncing up into a 12' x 12' reflector, which is above the line of sight. The window has a very light diffusion on the glass. There is nothing inside the room apart from that yellow florescent fixture.
What were the changes you made when you went for the closeups? Did you low reflector ? Added diffusion?
Im a cinematography student and I always complicate myself a lot when having to go from wide to closeups.. trying to match them.
