Nash's student room, A Beautiful Mind (1 reply and 1 comment)
I recently rewatched A Beautiful Mind and got curious as to how you lit the scenes in Nash's student dorm room where he begins writing on the windows. You would've clearly been careful to not let the windows get too hot so that the white pen would still be visible inside, but the interior ambiance felt really natural. Was it a location or a set?
The dorm room was a set, whilst some of the other college interiors were shot on location. It was a long time ago but I remember using soft bounce sources over the top of the Translite backing that depicted the exterior view from the dorm room. These were on chains so that I could lower them down when the camera wasn't seeing directly out the window.
