Lighting a living room with TV light (4 replies and 3 comments)
I'm filming a short film the character has been abandoned by his friends and shunned by his family he sits alone in the living room with only the flickering light coming from the tv illuminating the room.
Id be using a 12mm 2.8 to emphasise his loneliness, how could create the effect that the room is being lit primarily with the light coming from the tv and trying to keep detail in the shadows?
There are many ways to create a TV light effect. You could use a lamp with a flag waving in front of it or you could use a series of LED strips and a flicker generator. I would suggest experimenting as no one way is necessarily perfect.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, Time to start experimenting especially with the LED strips
There's BTS footage of Roger lighting a similar scene for the film 'Prisoners'. I remember he used an LED panel, a tweenie for a practical, and a meat axe flag...
Thanks jthomsg I'll check that out
