I have seen some of your making photographs... Sir, if am correct I never seen you keep your lights close to subject even though you have space(location space) to do that...one point is the fall off of the light... Apart from that is there any other reason to keep the lights a bit distance from subject.added a picture of revolutionary road making...If those fill bounces kept closer the more softer will be the lights!!... But you choose to kept a bit distance sir! I would like to know the reason sir.
I think you are wrong there! Both the distance of the diffusion and the distance of the actual lamp source from the subject control the fall off. Whilst I sometimes want an even light across a set, and I therefore keep the lighting that bit further away, I do often put the diffusion (or the bounce) quite close to the edge of frame.
To make myself more clear...
For example 1kw open face light bounced from a 4×4 feet white cloth , then that 4×4 white cloth become the light source and not the 1kw lamp.if am correct then the fall off should be calcylated from the 4×4 bounce board and not the 1kw lamp .

Yes, a bounce board will become the source from which you judge falloff. What I was saying is that I often have a bounce board at the edge of frame and rig the lamp above camera. But I will often have a much larger bounce source further away so that it is more even across the set but also so that I can cut the light off a background. The relative size of the light to the subject may be very similar.
Just so no one gets confused, by "bounce board" Roger is referring to a normal diffuse-type reflector board like a white card or ultra-bounce. the opposite is true with a reflector having a mirror-like surface that adds its distance to the distance from the source from the reflector.
