Gaffer Glass? (1 reply)
I have a question about using a Gaffer Glass/Contrast Viewing Loupe. I see a lot of old photos of monumental DPs, with this hanging on a cord around their neck. But I've never used one and I've never been on a shoot that did.
Are these useful tools? If so, what do you use them for?
There are different strengths of viewing glasses, some are more like heavy sunglasses for looking at set lighting back in the days of high foot-candles when it was hard to judge shadows by eye. But today, gaffers still use very heavy/dense glasses to be able to stare at a light to see if it is aimed properly or look at the sun passing through clouds, etc.
