Hello Roger, could you say how you arrived at your exposure setting for this scene from The Assassination of Jesse James? I'm totally perplexed on how to go about it. Thank you.

Shots like that you tend to judge by eye as they are tricky to judge using a meter. I did take a reading of the lamp at an optimum distance and made a judgement from there.

Ah ok, that makes sense, thank you. I find this kind of silhouette and half silhouette shots very evocative and powerful in the right context. Thanks again.
