I have no idea how to light a scene/subject. Where would you recommend i go (online) to learn the fundamentals? Any particular online course/class that would be well suited?

Thanks

Not Roger, but I recommend you read some books about cinematography.
Many good books can be bought online, such as 《Master of Light》, and there are many interviews with outstanding photographers.
There are also lighting charts provided by Master Roger on the website to inspire you.
And watch more movies in the form of light.

Get a camera and start taking pictures. That is the only way to learn. You really don't need to start with sophisticated lamps. Just buy some bulbs from a Home Depot or the equivalent store. Or take shots of a friend at a window. Try cutting the light, bouncing it, overexposing it etc. etc.
