Car PMP night rural forest (2 replies)

Hello everyone,

I am prepping for a short film shooting next weekend and I am having trouble coming up with a solution for this PMP. The scene is one character driving down a heavily forested road at night. The only motivating sources would be the cars lights & the moon. I am going to key the actor with a soft glow from the dash board and do an edge from the moon.

The shots are going to be: 1. MCU of the driver with the camera on the hood of the car, where we will see out the rear window. 2. A low angle shot from below where the radio would be, where we would see out of the drivers window and possibly a corner of the windshield.

(I have attached composition references for each shot)

My question for all of you is: What could I do to make the windows (rear, driver, part of windshield) not just be completely black? I am thinking of using some very small LED in the distance of the rear window to emulate another car behind our hero car. I feel stuck for what to do with the drivers window from the low angle.

Thank you in advance for your input!

How about mounting an LED onto the roof of the car and aiming it towards the rear window? If you lower the intensity enough, as well as diffuse the light enough, you might get away with it looking like moonlight shining through the rear window as well.
