Hello Roger,

I wondered, how did you light this scene ?

(it's an illustration picture from your looking at lighting of the film, but there wasn't anything on it particularly : https://www.rogerdeakins.com/1984-alexander-palace/ )

Thank you very much !

I wish I could remember! It might well have been using a 1K Fresnel bouncing off rotating mirrors. I think that is the kind of thing I did back in 1984!

Well, thank you ! Is it the best way to have that kind of hard light as a specific shape ? How does it not go all over the place after being reflected ?

You should look at the effect yourself. Simply use a small mirror and any small lamp even a flashlight.

Thank you, it seems the stronger the light source the more defined the reflected light. In a way it feels a bit similar to the sun light, being hard but.. having that weirdly pleasant quality to it. I might be wrong though, question of perception, I guess.
