Open conversation on what kind of inspiration directors sent, and what were your first few conversations about? What was the most (or least) useful?

Anything you wish you had more information on, or more time for?

Curious to learn more about what makes for your best collaborations!

I'm not sure how to define best. Every working relationship is different and each director can want something different from a cinematographer. I can be frustrated by too much information as well as too little. I think the only true test of a relationship is in the final product.

First - thank you for kicking this thread off personally!! I've loved your work before I knew who you were or what a cinematographer even was.

If I can be so bold...what would be a broad example of 'too much' information? Or better yet - if you were directing, what kind of information would you give your cinematographer?

As a cinematographer I like to have some freedom. As a director I would either shoot the film myself or back away from the visuals almost entirely. Frankly, I can't imagine anything but the former option and that's why I am a cinematographer!
