ok so most of my life i was completely against working with any respect to hollywood, but recently my interest has been sparked and burst into a flame. the flame is now eating away at my flesh!  thus these two questions came about: is there an “in” in hollywood? and if so how did YOU get “in”?

I don’t know if you have noticed, but Hollywood is predominantly a business run by Jews; the amount of directors, actors, producers are for the most part Jewish American. They tend to distance themselves from religion, and are political DemoncRats. Hence, the overwhelming support for Hilary Clinton during this past election.

Most of the studio chiefs are Jewish, which is why Hollywood has incredible influence to our culture and political landscape. Since the 1920s, films have been a significant part of that, but thankfully most actors are losing their influence; the fact that Trump was elected is evident that Hollywood no longer hold sway over the public’s mind.

If you think Harvey Weinstein was the only pig in Hollywood, you’re dead wrong. You have no idea how many pedophiles and sex-crazed maniacs hide themselves in their power and influence. The corruption is overwhelming, as it’s mainly a Machine to make a profit. There are no artists there! This is why people like Daniel-Day Lewis distances himself from that place. Did Tarkovsky or Bergman ever yearn to be just like Steven Spielberg? No, they were isolated and truly believed in their art. They changed the world, but has Hollywood done lately?

Im not sure if Hollywood is run by Jews, you'd have to show some conclusive evidence before you announce as an absolute that jews control hollywood. Even if they did whats wrong with that? What is it that you think they are doing? Who are you to say that jews "distance themselves from religion"?
By the way i hope you didn't vote for Trump, you do realize that he is trying to stop efforts of people trying to reverse climate change right? He is doing this because he doesn't care about the environment all he cares about is the money. Rather focusing on how corrupt Hollywood is you should take a look at the evil men that are running this country.

It’s funny, even the so-called “Mexican” directors like Cuaron and Del Toro are WHITE. Hollywood has been racist since its inception, and it will forever stay that way.

David W

You have no idea what can happen in the future. What makes you say that Hollywood is racist?

The revenant addresses how we commited genocide against the native americans. Get out addresses how racism is not gone but is lurking beneath the surface. Blackkklansman aslo addresses racism.

Yes Hollywood decades ago was rasict, this is evident in films such as Birth of a Nation, Mandingo, Song of the South, etc. Hollywood has changed a lot and is still changing thanks to the MeToo movement and men like Harvey Weinstein are being held accountable. You shouldn't be so pessimistic about Hollywood given that you dont have all the answers.

Is Steven Spielberg not evidence enough? He was the one that created the blockbuster machine with his JAWS, ET, and other garbage films like Indiana Jones. It’s not enough that he is already a billionaire, he has to keep polluting the earth with his big budget movies that he directs and produces. And Trump is protecting this country. Have you seen what Democrats have done to California?? Are you blind to the thousands of hundreds of homeless people in California? The people living in tents in downtown LA, while the wealthy ride around in their Bentley luxury cars? You let them on long enough, they’ll turn America into a third world country. But this is beyond film talk, and I still believe many cultures are highly misrepresented in Hollywood.

When was the last time you saw great Asian actors or directors? I can only think of one movie that made a lot of money, which was ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and it did better than most of the garbage Hollywood is putting out. How come there are no Indian actors or directors? I think the world could benefit from understanding other cultures as opposed to flooding the theaters with white superheroes.

USA is not even a heroic country, they have toppled governments and destabilized economies in Latin America, they wiped out the Native Americans, enslaved the black, and they created world wide terrorism. We are far from being heroes! And Hollywood is not a place to chase dreams, it’s a powerful political weapon that is aiding Israel to wipe out Palestine. You don’t know anything, because you believe everything you see on CNN.

David W

Yes Hollywood is not perfect and not everyone is represented, but you can't deny how far its come.

And no Spielberg is not evidence just because he made blockbuster's and he's Jewish. First of all im not repulican and im not a Democrat, i consider myself Independent but i lean more towards the left given that the Republican tax plan is giving tax cuts to wealthier people which is helping themselves and their big businesses thats is hurting the environment.

I agree with you that USA is not a heroic country that is absolutely true. I don't watch CNN all the major news networks are propaganda in my opinion. I recommend you watch Democracy Now.

I live in LA. Things are fine here. Just because you haven't had the success you feel you're entitled to for some reason, doesn't mean the entire system is broken. Stop projecting.

Technology has allowed for a new era in film. The barrier for entry is lower. The accessibility is greater than ever before. Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Vimeo, plus the ability for people to host their own...

What do you mean by 'Hollywood'? Hollywood doesn't really exist as a single entity. Maybe it did at one time but not now. Few films are made there and so much is now financed by Netflix, Amazon or independent financiers.

What about Disney, WB, Sony, Paramount, Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, etc

cameronrad

What about them? They employee thousands of people full-time and work with numerous studios, production companies, and teams as subcontractors/freelance

“Things are fine here” says the douchebag that walks over homeless people on his way to work. The cost of living is three times higher than any other place, you ignorant buffoon. It is irrelevant whether films are made there or not, all the major film production studios are situated there! Have you even seen news reporters about how much Disney employees are paid, which is made up of minority workers. All the Jews take all the wealth while they leave everyone else to rot! And who’s worried about “success” jackass. News flash, you’re going to fucking die someday, so all your “success” will be for nothing. You’re just like everyone in LA, shallow piece of scum. I hope an earthquake washes all of you away into the Pacific Ocean. No important filmmakers will emerge from this country, because this is a consumerist culture filled with shallow idiots like you. Hollywood may not be a single entity, but they are a vast community of elites, and their influence all over the world is still great. I want nothing to do with any of the films made there, I don’t intend to watch another single film ever made by anyone.

This post was mainly directed to Cameronrad, not Roger. This will be my last post as I no longer care about this. There’s just too many assholes involved in moviemaking, and maybe I don’t like Jewish Americans, because they have placed themselves as elites, they think they can think for all of us, simply because they make idiotic films that aren’t even that good to begin with. I mean, there’s a whole library of past foreign films I can enjoy from Criterion and Janus. I don’t need any of this modern garbage you all love so much. It’s always the same boring shit, with the same actors involved. I don’t k Oe about you, but watching Matt Damon play an astronaut is pretty ridiculous. Or that airhead ham Ryan Gosling , you expect me to believe that Canadian idiot knows anything about going to space. This entire “role play” is absolutely ridiculous. I think I’ll finish my bachelors degree and do something in the realm of astronomy.

What's your problem? Calling him a douchebag and a jackass, he made some great points. You make these outrageous claims and don't back them up with any facts, then you go on to insult everyone who might disagree with you.

I must say i do hope this is your last post because your pessimism really makes me sick.

Gentleman, Gentleman, This is a high profile forum set up and run by Roger and James for the benefit of us all, not just the few. Let’s not let them down, they put a lot of time and effort into this forum in trying to keep it vibrant and fresh. Let’s show some respect here as there are many forum members who just want to observe and learn without engaging in heated debates. By all means discuss the subject but refrain from emotional bursts and character assignation as that only makes matters worse. Shake hands please for Rogers sake.

My apologies, its just frustrating for me to see anti-Semitic rhetoric and rude comments directed to forum members. I don't let that stuff slide, I'd had to fight some kid for saying similar comments to my sister. Although Im willing to satiate your request and shake hands.

Apologies have been logged but was not called for as you were not the instigator of the argument. Nice to see that ‘chivalry’ and good manners still exists.

Thank you Mike and Canuck i was not apologizing for the things i said, i was apologizing for even responding to him. You are absolutely right Mike, this is not a place for political debates. I should have just ignored him and not have gotten involved.

I don't think CinematicDave needs to apologize. jthomsg had been warned before by Mr. Deakins himself when he griped about "Zionism" in Hollywood, and I doubt any form of goodwill will change his mind. That's fine, he is free to believe whatever.

I'm going to skip past all your anti-semitic conspiracy theory nonsense and and address two points.

“Things are fine here” says the douchebag that walks over homeless people on his way to work. The cost of living is three times higher than any other place, you ignorant buffoon. "

California has the 5th highest GDP globally. The demand to live and work here is high, the supply is low. Basic economics. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-california-economy-gdp-20180504-story.html»

"I think I’ll finish my bachelors degree and do something in the realm of astronomy."

Maybe consider economics so you have some understanding of how things work. Actually with the plethora of streaming platforms and free educational services, you don't even need to give money to "the system". Here's a great resources for learning economics. http://www.economicprinciples.org»

I know Los Angeles is one of the richest cities, which makes it even more alarming at the amount of poverty within the city. I live in beautiful Texas, a republican state, and you see none of that in Houston. When hurricane Harvey hit, we all helped each other out.

And Jews do run Hollywood, everyone is just too afraid to admit it or else they will be blacklisted and won’t be able to get work anymore. How was it that even Gary Oldman admitted it and then apologized. It’s no conspiracy, it’s the truth.
