Hey everyone my name is Misbah I'm a film student, and I recently directed and recreated the desert scene from blade runner 2049. I would love for you guys to check it out. It would be super cool to have Roger see it too!

I wonder if it would be a good exercise to take that same scene and 'shoot' it in a different way. Try to get the same feeling with different shots and different compositions. I'm not sure why copying is of much value.

It would be fun to see that in a more active environment - wind, rain, possibly thunder and lightning as well.

I thought it was supposed to be based on ‘Mars’ or some other planet. I didn’t know it was Mother Earth, I’d better see this film again.

Well done. A couple of points. Our idea was not to see the horizon but you start with it behind the character and there is a little more definition in the statues than we would have wanted. Other than that, I've seen it before so why!

Thanks for you comment. So this was done for a film school assignment. Our teacher had told us to find a scene from a film we liked and to recreate it shot for shot. Basically the assignment would help us in understanding visual composition. Your one of my favorite cinematographers and I distinctly remembered your work from blade runner 2049 and I instantly knew that the desert scene you shot would be the scene that id recreate. Anyway I was super happy that you saw it and I look forward to your future projects.

Thanks
Misbah

Does this mean that you are as good as Roger! Or does it mean you are good at ‘faking’ other people’s work. Interesting topic!

Ha ha. Not at all, the visual aesthetic and design was created by Roger and I by no means claiming that I am good as Roger. All I'm recreation was made with after effects and 3d models so it was a completely different workflow to how Roger shot it. It was an assignment in our directing class at my film school to recreate a small scene from a film of your choice I was just inspired by this scene and thought it would be fun to recreate it.

Whatever you did, was very convincing, I wasn’t sure which side you were, left or right. Now this is very interesting, that means that you can make BR for $500.00.
Which makes you a hot property! C/U’s can now be a “dummy” and you can animate the face to match the dialogue (if any). Record some sound effects from your local scrap yard, add some reverb and the usual magic dust and we have a full length feature. Throw on your “monkey suit” and present yourself at the the awards and collect your ‘Oscar’. Nothing to it!
