Horror Films (1 reply and 1 comment)
I’m a fan of horror films so I was wanting to hear your opinion of the genre. I’m not particularly fond of every horror film that comes out, but there are some that have stood out over these past years (“The Witch”, “The Eyes of My Mother”, “Raw”, “Goodnight Mommy”). What these films have in common is that they are all character driven. “Let the Right One In” is another one that I really enjoy. There were also some horror films back in the day that were very interesting to me, most notably “Eyes Without A Face”.
What do you think about any of these films listed or about the genre in genereal? Although there are horror films that aren’t great, I feel there are filmmakers with something to say who make films within the genre to tell powerful human stories.
I thought 'The Witch' was terrific. 'Hour of the Wolf' I remember as being a great horror film too. Bergman no less! Isn't it always about 'character' whatever the genre?
It should always be about character. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Thank you, Roger!
