in robert bression filmography which one your all time favourite stunning visual film.
Not Deakins. Sorry. But I have seen some Bresson. I loved Pickpocket. But not necessarily because of the film itself, but more in that I'm a huge Christopher Nolan fan and I had seen his film Following prior to having seen Pickpocket. I remember feeling there was a strange similarity in the two films. But before I ever saw Pickpocket or Following. I saw a little film call Le Samourai by Jean Pier Melville. Now, in hindsight, I realize that with this film I found I had similar feeling after having watched Following for the first time. Don't you love it when you make connections to films that you feel are your own and noone else's?
'Le Samourai' by Jean Pierre Melville is one of the great works of cinema. For me 'A Man Escaped' by Bresson is another, though not quite in the same class.
On Melville, also, 'the red circle' or 'le cercle rouge' is another amazing film. Very Hitchcockian almost, like 'Rear Window.' There is actually a point in 'Rear Window' when the plot turns heist film.
Havn't seen 'A Man Escaped' will have to check it out.
