Favorite Cinematography Resources (1 reply and 1 comment)
Hi Justin
I have a digital subscription to American Cinematographer and I would say it's definetely worth it - especially considering it's only $20 for the year and gives you access to the magazine archive too.
I've also subscribed to Masterclass which I have found very informative - especially the director series including James Cameron, Ron Howard, David Lynch, Spike Lee and Martin Scorcese. I'm actually surprised they haven't contacted Roger about doing a workshop yet (maybe they have).
Book wise: My favourite remains Masters of Light - the Nestor Almendros interview is worth the price of the book alone.
Here's a list I put together of my favourite cinematography quotes which might provide some inspiration: filmmakingquotes.com/cinematography-quotes/
I hope this helps. David
David,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful response! I will definitely check out all of these resources. Those quotes that you put into the list are fantastic!
Hi everyone,
I always want to expand my awareness of cinematography so that I can apply it to my own work. In addition to practicing ones craft, what are your favorite resources that you would recommend other budding cinematographers read/watch? Must-read books? Documentaries? Is an annual subscription to American Cinematographer worth it?
