I love books and I am rarely reading less than two but I don't remember a single one on photography or film making that has made any connection with me. Honestly, I don't think you can learn to be creative from a book.

You might want to read Ray Bradbury's 'Green Shadows White Whale', which is about the making of 'Moby Dick'. It won't teach you much about cinematography but its a great read about the madness of film making.

As far as my own inspiration I will repeat the same names as I always do  Andre Tarkovsky, Jean Pierre Melville, Sam Peckinpah, Robert Bresson etc. etc.......... and John Huston too. 'Moby Dick' was a wonderful film however crazy the process!
