COVID didn’t keep us from filming (21 replies and 12 comments)
Hey Roger and James!
I just wanted to let you know how my family’s film is going. You probably don’t remember me, but I’m the girl from Nashville who asked you about the ring lights four months ago. Wow, how they have helped!
When I last posted something, we had only 1% of the film shot. I am pleased to say we now have 65% in the can! We couldn’t have done it without those four ring lights. Since it has been COVID, our crew has consisted of two, sometimes three, people: me, my dad, and my mom. I’m the only one not acting. My sister is only acting (although she did help me pull focus one day; I called her “Chivo Pequeño”.) She’s usually not part of the crew, though. A few others outside of our family are also supporting actors.
I just wanted to give you an update! I hope you’re doing well!
That's great to hear! I am jealous that you have been filming!
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t say that to make you jealous. I’m just so happy that someone sees us and knows and appreciates what we’re doing! And now my dad is on the road, so now, my mom and I are also the sound crew. So, we’re super COVID friendly because the entire set is just three people and maybe one extra actor. Even if you and James care to visit, we’d still be in keeping with the rule of six the PM has in place in England.
Oh yes, you did.
Alas, we are not leaving California for the time being!
I need to ask: how are you doing with the fires? I hope you guys are okay.
There was smoke over LA for many days but nothing as bad as things are further north. Today the ocean breeze has kicked in so the air is much fresher here. There are showers coming into Oregon and, maybe, to northern California so the worst may be over for now. I say 'for now' as our traditional fire season has not yet started. And climate change is fake news! There are even great white sharks in Monterey Bay!
Oregonian here. The smoke was so bad, that the sky was pitch black one morning on my way to work and, as you've probably seen in the news/online, it looked exactly like Las Vegas in Blade Runner 2049. That isn't hyperbole, sadly. Nearby towns were completely wiped off the map, but we're doing better now. Sad to see my beautiful home state burning.
I am so glad you guys are safe! And I’ve been saying that climate change was fake news for years! The earth is in a hot spell; although, the plastic in the ocean is not helping at all. And how many great whites have you been lucky enough to see? They’re such amazing creatures!
I hope you are not serious!
Yes, indeed, the earth is in a hot spell. This year saw an all time world record temperature here in California. In the mid 19th century, John Tyndall and others proved that CO2, methane and ozone are 'greenhouse gasses'. It is a pity so many of those who lead us have still to recognizing this scientific fact.
I’m a huge environmentalist. Please don’t get me wrong. I believe that climate change exists because humans keep dumping plastic in the ocean. The ocean is trying to break down what it can’t. To break anything down takes energy and the byproduct of energy is heat. So yes, climate change exists and it is entirely man’s fault. The earth is heating because of our abuse of fossil fuels we never should have touched in the first place.
How do you heat your house, I imagine it get gets very cold in the winter where you are. I am oil fired which is not good but am changing to Solar heating shortly which helps. Just interested.
