Good Afternoon Mr. Deakins and everyone else!
I'm currently doing a research paper on colours. I was wondering if you could help me out by answering some of these questions?
1) Is there any particular colour that you're uncomfortable with when it comes to lighting/ handling? If yes, why is that so?
2) You're often composing new colour palettes for each film, when you get back to reality from work, how does your work affect the way you see colours in real life or vise versa?
3) Are there any objects/ activities that a regular person might find it normal, but you as a cinematographer find it fascinating?
4) One of the most fascinating thing about your interviews is that you're happy to shoot in any format given whether is on film or digital. I would like to go back in time, and I was wondering how was your approach towards colours like when you were shooting in the era before digital grading existed? What are the kind of tools you've experimented with to get the colours you've wanted?
I would appreciate any help Sir, thank you for your time. Additionally I would also like everyone else to join in and give your inputs, as I am always open to learning.
