Hi Roger. I think it’s your first time working with director “Sam Mendes”. How was your experience working with him? Was it an exciting and memorable shoot? One of your most challenging especially cause it’s a “War” picture?

oops ! I’m sorry I forgot ! You’ve worked with him before on the 2005 movie “Jarhead” ! Anyway I have a feeling and hope that you would win your 2nd Oscar for “1917” (it should’ve been maybe your third cause imo you should have won for Jesse James) which I consider it to be one of the greatest of our time! Good luck to you always Mr. Deakins !

Mr. Deakins. Was it interesting and challenging to shoot the movie “1917” as a one single long take?

Of course, both interesting and very challenging! Not challenging because it was a war film as in so many ways it is far more than that. It was both challenging and stressful.

Excited to see 1917. Are you doing Joel Coen's Macbeth next?
