Hiya all,

Might be a stupid question, but im looking to avoid the blue flare when shooting anamorphics. I love the compression and look benifits you can acheive from anamorphics but lots of time find the flare can distract. Is there anything I can do to keep sources in frame and minimise the blue streaks, some kinda filtration etc?

Thanks, and hope yall all had a good christmas!

No there’s no such thing as a filter that removes a lens flare… You either have to use a brand of anamorphic lens that doesn’t create the blue flare or you have to avoid bright lights in the frame that create the flare.

Ahh, what sets or anamorphic glass would have a smaller blue flare?

ARRI Master Anamorphics

I think besides the ARRI Master anamorphics, the Cooke anamorphics don't have the blue flare. Keep in mind that they do make "flare" anamorphics as well.

Hi Omitch,

I used the P+S Kowa Evolution Anamorphic on a couple of movies recently and they tend to keep the color of your light source for the color of the flare.
