Hi Roger/Members,

I am shooting a commercial with Sony A-6300 in few days. It is a combination of both day and night shoot.

Myself, am a Canon guy and I always shoot with picture style set to get a flat image, so that I can get a good image at post for grading.

I have never used a sony before for shooting a video, shooting at s-log 3 can give me a flat image for maximum grading in post?

Any more info about using it for the video is more helpful for me.

Thanks,
Sai

I haven't used that specific camera but I have used the Sony A7s for video.

As far as I can tell, the S Log format will give you the most latitude. The drawback with the A7s is that the S Log format gives you a minimum ISO of 3200 which is really hard to work with outside of extreme low-light conditions. As a result, I usually use one of the Cine Gamma settings. Still, I doubt that S Log will have the same problems with the A-6300 as it has with the A7s.

Hey Matthew,

I agree with your point, and as you have mentioned even in A-6300 when you shoot in S-log, the ISO of camera is limited.
But my project mostly runs in daylight and at night I am supported with enough lights, hence that's not an issue.

My only concern was the latitude, and you have cleared my doubts.

Thanks,
Sai
