shooting with anamorphic and spherical leses at the same time (2 replies and 3 comments)
Hello, Mr Deakins!
Do you usually take some spherical lenses as well when you shoot a film which is supposed to be shot primarily with anamorphic lenses? In a project like this, in what cases will you use a spherical lens instead of an anamorphic one? I guess people may do so for technical or aesthetical reasons, but I'd like to know some specific examples, especially from you, if you can tell.
Thank you very much.
I shoot Super 35 or Open Gate and 'crop' top and bottom, yes.
I have to admit that I prefer working this way, but is there a special reason you do it, rather than using anamorphic?
I have never shot a film using anamorphic lenses only spherical lenses.
Does that mean that you crop to get Cinemascope?
Thanks for the reply
