Hey Roger,

I was curious how often you find yourself using a rota pola in general. Would you ever use one when shooting a closeup of an actor for example? We heavily used one for a show I was an operator on. It was decided we would almost always be riding the rota pola with the exception of when we needed extra light. I couldn't find much info about the subject on the forum. Thank you!

A polarizing filter can be used to reduce specular reflections on the skin and make it look more matte. This is the only stylistic reason I can think of to justify the systematic use of a polarizer on close-ups.
