Remote head VS general fluid head (3 replies and 1 comment)
here is the picture
I do use a fluid head quite a bit but the picture you post is of a Power Pod remote head. I was using an Alexa Studio with an optical viewfinder and I like to look through the camera to check the shot. Sadly, the optical viewfinder is becoming less of an option with digital cinematography. Maybe I should go back to film emulsion. Just kidding!
I see! What do you think the advantage of a fluid head over a remote head then?
Just being close to the camera and feeling it part of your body makes a difference. Maybe it is just me as I started out shooting documentaries.
Hi Roger,
I know you are a big fan of the remote head rig. However, I've seen pictures of you operating on the fluid head too.
I wonder what makes the decision for you to choose on different camera rigs? If possible, would you shoot a film all on a remote head?
In the picture below, you had a fluid head on a jib. Isn't it more convenient just to have it on a remote head?
