I have a loooong time without posting anything here... I'm still learning my way through the craft, I'd like to know what do you think about the cinematography in this shortfilm I worked in... every comment from anyone is welcome! and also sorry if this is not the right category to post this =)
I will start it off but would be nice if others could make a comment.
Interesting film, extremely violent nearly all the way through and I wonder if it was really necessary to go that far. Sexual violence in the beginning followed by more violence and even a girls head being stamped on and exploding was cleverly done obviously highlighting the extremes the gang were willing to take to get what they wanted but It could have been shot differently and still retain some of the violent elements. It was cleverly edited I must admit and even the man holding the ‘air rifle’ tried his best to convey that he was a natural killer. This film was well put together imo but I was completely lost, I was constantly distracted by the level of violence and lost concentration of what the film was really about.
It had a great sound track and was well shot, it was difficult to film with the constant changes and resetting and I suppose it could be called a successful film if you like murdering people but it did not draw me in and couldn’t wait for it to end, so sorry.
Would be nice if we had a second opinion, any members willing to scribe something.
Hello Mike, thank you so much for your comment, I will agree it goes from 0 to 100 pretty quick and it's only uphill from there. If of course is meant for a subset of viewers as you mentioned at the end. In a sense, the feeling you described is what the director had as a goal... What he wrote to me was "I want people to feel repulsion to violence, hopefully not to the shortfilm"... so, we got 50% there, but maybe we went too far, lol... thank you for your comment =) I also reaaaaally liked the soundtrack, with headphones it has some binaural elements
This is a well made film in my opinion but the violence disturb me as it dominated the film, perhaps if it had some scene variation it could be tolerated. Were those cartoon characters restricted by copyright. Hope you obtained permission to use them.
hehe, that'll be a huge surprised if the cartoon was not meant to be use in this project... Those are original designs as far as I am aware. I was also involved in the mood and lighting of those animation sequences
