Can anyone ID this camera? (3 replies and 4 comments)
Well that link didn't work. Photo attached.
It’s an Arriflex 35, don’t know if it’s the I or II, etc.
Thank you! It looks tiny.
It’s MOS
The size of a film camera is mostly determined by the size of the film rolls and the amount of soundproofing added around it. 35mm movie cameras in the Silent Era were pretty small.
I think that you will find that this is a Arriflex M or MB 16mm.
Look at the hand position holding the right hand shutter moulding and the thumb position. There could be a lens turret by his hand. The VF looks fixed to me. Also have a look at his left hand supporting his right hand or a motor (Arri 2C) type. Cameraman wearing a suit and crane indicates period. This looks like a British studio photo, could be Denham or Isleworth studios. Could be wrong. Not received my copy of Magazine so don’t know what the storyline is. Interesting though.

Pretty sure it’s now an Arriflex 2C 35mm. Photo is later than originally thought, perhaps late 1950’s.
